Croissant au Beurre
$4.50Seventy-two buttery layers, baked twice a day. Deeply caramelised, shatteringly crisp.
House favouriteA neighbourhood patisserie and café where every croissant is laminated by hand and the coffee is poured with care, from dawn to last light.
Ambrevia began with a second-hand oven, a marble slab and a stubborn belief that good pastry can't be hurried. Camille trained in Lyon, came home to Québec, and opened a narrow storefront in the old town with room for eight stools and a very long queue.
More than a decade later we still laminate every batch by hand, still source our butter and cream from Charlevoix farms, and still write the day's menu on a chalkboard depending on what the season gives us. Nothing leaves the case that we wouldn't serve our own family.

Early mornings, flour-dusted benches and a case that changes with the light. A little of the everyday at Ambrevia.
A few notes from the people who start their mornings with us.
"The best croissant I've had outside of Paris — and I've looked. Flaky, buttery, and the café crème is perfect. We walk fifteen minutes out of our way for it every Sunday."
"I ordered a fraisier for my mother's birthday and it stopped the whole table. Genuine craft, warm people, and a little shop that feels like a secret. Ambrevia is a treasure."
You'll find us tucked into Rue Saint-Jean in Old Québec, a few steps from Porte Saint-Jean. Pop in for a pastry, stay for the coffee.
